Expressive Typography

Designer Statement

The goal for this project was to create our own custom typography with a specific theme and to apply it to an Instagram post, and place it on your chosen application. I decided to go with the theme of Monarchy and Royalty because I am a fan of the old fashioned typography and elements. For my specific project, I went with the color pallet of Gold and Royal Purple to match the royalty theme. I then found a cool typeface called Victorian Text that I then edited to be my own custom typography while incorporating a pillar into the type and erasing one part of the letters to make the pillar blend in with it.

Design Exploration

I automatically wanted to go with this theme of monarchy because I love the color scheme and the style of old typography, so I chose to work with it. I was playing around and looking for a typeface to use for this project when I suddenly came across VictorianText. I then played around with the eraser tool and placed the pillar elements that I created to complete the letter in place of the missing leg. It was overall a fun process and a success at the end. I am happy with the outcome.

Finalized Design Concept and Evaluation

The final project is a document containing 26 separate boxes containing every letter of the alphabet customized overall giving a clean look to the imagery and showcases the wonderful combination of text and design.
